Cleveland Kitchen.
Brand refresh.

Freshmade led the Cleveland Kitchen brand refresh, including brand strategy, packaging design, portfolio architecture, visual identity evolution, photography direction, illustration systems, and shelf communication strategy.

Cleveland Kitchen had established itself as a leader in fermented foods with a loyal consumer base and strong recognition in refrigerated sauerkraut. As the company expanded into a broader portfolio of fermented products, including pickles and kimchi, the brand needed a more scalable identity system that could support growth while maintaining the authenticity and craftsmanship that made it successful.

Freshmade evolved the Cleveland Kitchen brand to improve product differentiation, increase taste appeal, and strengthen shelf presence across the expanding portfolio. The redesigned packaging system introduced clearer navigation, more distinctive flavor communication, richer color coding, and a more contemporary visual language. Photography, illustration, and messaging were refined to create a stronger “fresh-from-the-kitchen” experience while preserving the brand’s approachable, homemade roots.

The work focused on building long-term brand equity by creating a cohesive system that could stretch across categories without sacrificing recognition or personality. Every element was designed to help shoppers more easily identify products, understand flavors, and connect with the brand’s culinary point of view.

The result is a modernized Cleveland Kitchen identity that balances craft and scale, strengthens shelf impact, and supports the brand’s continued leadership in the refrigerated fermented-foods category. Freshmade served as the lead agency responsible for the Cleveland Kitchen brand refresh and packaging redesign.
